Today On The Avenue we want to share an inspiring story. Last month Kalin Bennett, 18, became the first person with autism to sign a letter of intent with a Division 1 University! He will be enrolling and playing basketball at Kent State next summer

While Kalin had multiple offers from other colleges, he explained that he chose Kent University because of their programs involving students with Autism. These programs are aimed at learning more about autism, and helping students affected by it to thrive in their new college environment.

Kalin has been very vocal about his journey with autism, and how it has affected him in his life and schooling career. He told Cleveland.com, “I want to make an impact not just on the court, but with the kids that struggling with the same things I am.”

Watch below to hear from Kalin himself!

So thank you Kalin for being such an inspiration, and congrats on the scholarship!!!
